Jennie began singing with the world famous Cantamus Girls Choir when she was 13. She had a wonderful 5 years traveling across the world, rising to leading contralto in the year they won Sainsbury's Choir of the Year. Jennie then studied singing at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Barbara Robotham. Her guidance helped Jennie to win the Elsie Thurston, John Wray and Kate Snape prizes for singing and, finally, obtain a BMus(Hons) degree! She was generously awarded a major scholarship by the Peter Moores Foundation, and the MSM Centenary Scholarship, to continue my post-graduate studies at the RNCM.

During her 5 years there she studied stagecraft and acting as well as singing and took leading roles in numerous operas and plays. However, she was also enjoying other areas of music. Jennie had always been a competent pianist, and enjoyed writing as well as playing and singing in any style whatsoever.

Immediately following the RNCM, She worked with both Clonter Opera and with Opera North, but shortly afterwards chose to follow a career as a singer/songwriter.

Jennie now perform at many different venues throughout the country both as a solo artist, accompanying myself on piano, and with various pop, soul and jazz bands - but primarily the Rough Hill Band. They are a 6-piece soul-based cover band who perform all over the country. she is regularly to be found playing at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester , and is part of a new classical group called "The Sirens" who sing opera. Jennie is also enjoying regular work writing and recording jingles for Rock FM and have, over the 2 years, been lucky enough to write and record with Reece Gilmore, producer of Blue and Atomic Kitten.

Recent performances include 2 nights at the Albert Hall and London Hilton as a guest soloist with the West-End Rat Pack Show, an appearance with my band, Rough Hill, in London hosted by Trevor Nelson and at Old Trafford for an evening in aid of Sir Alex Ferguson's favourite charity, Unicef. She also had the pleasure of singing with Amy Nuttall (Emmerdale) a few weeks ago at the Red Cross Ball in Manchester's Midland hotel to a star studded crowd including Martine McCutcheon and Deborah Stevenson.

Notable performances in 2003 were at Ricky Tomlinson's wedding, at the Manchester United Ground for the Champion's League Final 2003, at the opening of Harvey Nichols in Manchester and an appearance at Ronnie Scott's famous jazz club in London . She also sang at Wayne Rooney's I8th birthday party, Charles Kennedy's birthday at London 's Dorchester Hotel, the Carlton Tower Hotel with Brian Connely, the Manchester United Players' Christmas party and Martin Keown's tesimonial dinner at the London Hilton.

This March Jennie has been to Monte Carlo for a grand award ceremony given by McNaughton Paper and to Cannes to sing at a Marketing Manchester Event hosted by Gary Lineker. . Previously she has sung at numerous prestigious events including the Christmas Lights Ceremony at Manchester Town Hall, and at the launch of Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen's cosmetic range at the Manchester Reform Club. I also gave two special performances for Rocco Forte at his very own Lowry Hotel in Manchester !

Most recently Jennie was the main act for the Manchester Tourism awards at the GMEX hosted by Vernon Kay and sang at the Bridgewater Hall with the Royal Marines and the Coronation Street Cast as part of a charity concert in aid of The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
